The Project

Welcome to our blog „Azubis go USA“!

Each year our groups of up to 30 trainees from Hamburg, Berlin and Bavaria are spending six to eight weeks in the USA. There they are attending courses at the Kennesaw State University and are doing internships in various companies, conduct company visits and take part in cultural events.

The Joachim Herz Stiftung offers an internship program for these trainees who want to gain on-the-job experience in the United States.

„Azubis Go USA“ promotes international mobility, intercultural and business exchange. It fosters cooperation as well as personal and professional development for the trainees and participating companies. The internship program started in 2014 and is organized in cooperation with the Bavarian Ministry of Education, the Hamburg Institute of Vocational Education and Training and the German American Chamber of Commerce of Southern U.S. (GACC South).

Due to the founder’s and the foundation’s long-standing ties to the state of Georgia, the Joachim Herz Stiftung and its partners are looking for companies and nonprofit organizations from different industries in Georgia that are willing to accept German interns.

If you are interested in becoming a host organization for this project or if you have any questions, please contact Yulia Kozyrakis ( or Cornélie Krehenbrink (
